The Defender M USMC Combat shirt is sewn to the official USMC Fire Resistant Organizational Gear (FROG) specifications. It is made of patented Defender M flame-resistant fabric with an enhanced X-Static DRIFIRE knit torso which reduces core body heat and prevents bacteria growth, and provides odor control. All thread, zippers and loop components are flame resistant. The USMC Fire Resistant Organizational Gear (FROG) system was designed to reduce the level and amount of injury caused by IEDs during the Iraq War. Tencate Defender M, currently in use by the United States Army and Marine Corps, is the new standard for flame resistance in combat clothing. Not only does the Defender M material provide incredible protection from heat and flame, it does so without losing any of the comfort provided by the commonly used NYCO fabric. This fire-resistant fabric does not melt or drip, and will self-extinguish. These qualities are inherent in the material, and will not fade or wash out. The lightweight and breathable Lenzig FR material absorbs perspiration, keeping you cool, and is incredibly resistant to standard wear, tear and fading.

Due to the threat of burn injuries stemming from OIF/OEF, a USON was established that required burn protection for the hands and face/neck. After extensive testing, it was determined that in addition to providing base layer of flame/fire protection, an outer layer of protection is essential.

Flame Resistant Organizational Gear
 Designed to closely resemble the current Marine Corps Combat Utility Uniform (MCCUU). 
Shirt: Torso made of lightweight FR material, moisture wicking, and anti-microbial properties. Sleeves are FR and contain sleeve pockets.
Trousers: Similar to the current MCCUU trousers, these trousers have a calf pocket that aides the wearer in quickly identifying FR from non-FR versions.

The Flame Resistant Combat Ensemble is comprised of a high performance protective blouse and protective trousers that will provide the protection, safety and comfort features required by Flame Resistant Organizational Gear.

Design

The blouse features moisture wicking torso, zip collar, raglan cut sleeves for improved mobility, comfort and durability. The sleeves contain angled bicep pockets with loop panel located on flap, darted elbow panel reinforcement, three position button closure cuff.

The trousers features elasticized waistband, button fly, angled side slash pockets, seat pockets with flap closure, large thigh cargo pockets feature elastic reinforcement and bellowed expansion, double reinforced seat and knee, and dual calf pocket with bellows.

Material

• Defender M FR rayon blend woven fabric on sleeves, collar, and trousers;
• Drifire moisture wicking modacrylic fiber blend FR knit fabric with antimicrobial silver fiber in the torso area to ensure comfort and cooling in hot environments, and
• Nomex thread.
